The Macallan Rare Cask was released in 2014 as a new addition to the company’s 1824 Masters Series of core expressions.
Taking it’s name from the extremely rare Spanish sherry seasoned oak casks which are hand selected by the Master Distiller at the Macallan Distillery. This specially selected oak has helped mature this single malt Scotch whisky into a tremendously complex dram, with every changing layers of fruit, sweet chocolate and soft vanilla.

The Macallan distillery was founded in 1824 and prides itself on its Six Pillars, which include its curiously small stills, very narrow 'cut' of new make spirit and exceptional cask management. It is the most sought after whisky for collectors, regularly setting records at auctions all round the world.
