VACHERON CONSTANTIN
222
The iconic 222 from Vacheron Constantin designed by Jörg Hysek and a historically important watch for VC in the integrated bracelet luxury sports category.
Launched in 1977 to celebrate Vacheron Constantin’s 222nd anniversary and now proving rarer than its competitors designed by Gérald Genta, the 222 stands out for its sleek, angular case, scalloped bezel, and the distinctive Maltese cross stamped on the lower right of the case.
Produced for just seven years in three variants - steel, gold, and bi-colour, the 222 remains one of the rarest and most collectible sports models of the era.
The 34mm features the benefit of a running centre seconds hand and Sigma dial signatures, both not seen on the Jumbo 37mm.
The limited numbers of 34mm made were lower at around 250 pieces total production across all metals, versus 700 for the Jumbo (120 in bi-colour). If we apply the same ratio it would mean that only circa 40 examples of the 34mm 46003 in bi-colour steel and gold were ever produced.
